LASERS to speak at meeting in West Monroe

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News) – Cindy Rougeou, Executive Director of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System (LASERS), will speak to the Monroe chapter of RSEA on Wednesday, March 12, 9:00 a.m., at the West Monroe Convention Center, 901 Ridge Ave., West Monroe.

Active state employees and retirees from Caldwell, East and West Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, and Union parishes are expected to attend.

LASERS will address issues affecting state employees and retirees' pension benefits during the 2014 Regular Legislative Session. Rougeou will be available for interviews before and after remarks. RSEA members will also be available for interviews.

In fiscal year 2013, 3,504 LASERS retirees and beneficiaries in the Monroe RSEA chapter region received more than $58 million in gross retirement benefits. LASERS provides a defined benefit pension plan that covers approximately 150,000 members. LASERS pays over $1 billion in annual benefits to beneficiaries, providing a strong and reliable economic stimulus for Louisiana.
