WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - It will be a celebration of the life of Coach Don Shows in full Friday night lights fashion tomorrow evening.

The West Monroe High School band is expected to play, but with students on spring break this week the band is recruiting its alumni.

And to make it feel like an authentic football Friday night, Mallory Bass said the Shows family has asked for current and former West Monroe High School band members to participate in the memorial.

"It was a little bit harder to get our band to go, so we said we were going to get alumni who were there during the Don Shows era," Bass said.

Bass says the participants will gather in the band room at 6 Friday evening.

She says they will play four songs: The star spangled banner, West Monroe High School's alma mater, Go Rebs and Dixie.

"He was a great coach, a great person. He was a very memorable figure of our school," bass said.

Current students are asked to wear travel suits and alumni should wear band shirts or rebel attire.

Shows memorial starts tomorrow evening at seven.
