Arrest made in Christmas Eve stabbing death

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) -Ouachita Parish Sheriffs deputies office have made an arrest in a Christmas Eve stabbing that left the victim with more than 100 knife wounds. 

The investigation into the homicide of Calvin George has led to the arrest of Jonathan Akeem Mays, 23, of Monroe.

OPSO responded to a call on Christmas Eve 2013 on Roberts Street. There, deputies discovered the body of George inside the residence. George had been stabbed in excess of 100 times in the head, neck and torso.

Investigators were able to obtain forensic and testimonial evidence that allowed for securing an arrest warrant for Mays for one count of second degree murder. Bond was set Thursday at $500,000. Mays was booked into OCC.
