OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A high speed car chase spanning two parishes ended with spike strips being thrown and a man in jail.

Ouachita Parish Sheriffs Deputies received a call around 7:30 Wednesday morning about a stolen black Toyota truck. The driver, Donald Atkins, is accused of shoplifting at a gas station on Highway 34. He's also accused of trying to rob an employee at a Sonic restaurant in Calhoun.

Deputies caught up with Atkins on Highway 151, he was heading toward Downsville. They chased him onto I20 heading toward Ruston. State police tried to stop him with spike strips, but it was Ruston Police who finally ended the chase with their own spike strips.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office forced the truck into a ditch and arrested Atkins.
