SLIDELL, La. (AP) - There have been two water incidents involving children in the Slidell area in less than 24 hours.
Slidell Police say the first occurred Saturday afternoon at Heritage Park. Investigators say a 14-year-old boy jumped into Bayou Bonfouca after his friends allegedly dared him to do so.
The second occurred Sunday morning and involved a 3-year-old who was found face down in a homeowner's pool.
Detective Daniel Seuzeneau says the teenager is listed in critical condition at a New Orleans hospital; the toddler was pronounced dead about 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
