WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A West Monroe Walmart employee is charged with theft after allegedly stealing cash from a customer's wallet.

Tabbatha Lynn Hale, 45, was arrested Friday after police responded to a theft at the Walmart in West Monroe.

An employee turned over a customer's lost wallet to customer service, but the customer said $138 was missing. While reviewing surveillance footage, an officer saw Hale hide the wallet, then remove it later.

After being arrested, Hale told the officer that she took cash from the wallet and hid it in the employee restroom. Officers found $122 in cash and returned it to the customer.

The officer then searched Hale and found two suspected Hydrocodone pills in her purse, which Hale said she got from her mother.

Hale is charged with theft and prohibited acts-Schedule III.
