MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - An ArkLaMiss boy has broken the state record with his latest catch.

Lawson Boyte, 12, was fishing with his family on the Mississippi River when he caught a massive catfish using shad bait. At Randall's Fine Meats in Monroe, the catch weighed in at a whopping 114.1 pounds.

According to Boyte's family, that breaks the standing record in Louisiana of 110.19 pounds set by Keith Day in April 2005. Day's catch was also made on the Mississippi River.
