WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A new award was given to the area's first family.

While in town Thursday, Governor Bobby Jindal presented the Robertson's of "Duck Dynasty" with the honor.

It's the state's first Entrepreneurial Excellence Award.

The ceremony drew a lot of attention, because it also took place right in the middle of A&E's filming of the show.

It was lights, camera, action as close friends and the entire Robertson family gathered to be presented with the Louisiana Entrepreneurial Excellence award.

A & E got in position to make this day part of the show's next season.

"Not everyone is going to be the next Duck Commander, but everyone can pursue their dreams in this great state," said Gov. Bobby Jindal.

It's an honor for a family that totaled a first year sales of $8000 when Duck Commander started decades ago.

"Right here in our home town, right up from where we started from nothing...it's special. Sort of touching for our family," said Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson.

Humbling Phil Robertson agrees, stressing that not only was the multi-million dollar company built from nothing but without any outside help.

"I want everyone to understand when we started and now to this day it was without any government assistance," Duck Commander patriarch Phil Robertson said.

The governor says not only is this family an inspiration to the business community, but as a father himself.  Jindal is proud that his children can watch the show without any fear of what may be said or seen.

Jindal also commended the family for creating a show that is truly family friendly.
