NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - The North Little Rock School District is acknowledging that creationism was taught in one of its schools but says the incident was isolated.

The district responded to a complaint by the American Civil Liberties Union on Tuesday, which asked administrators to block religious teachings in the community's public schools.

The district released a statement saying that creationism was taught one day and in only one classroom. Officials say administrators and teachers will be given additional training and that the district will monitor compliance.

District rules call for it to be neutral in matters of religion and to not advocate or disparage faith.
