Monroe City Council rejects company's renovation plans

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Monroe City Council is rejecting a proposal to renovate industrial manufacturer Gardner Denver Thomas.

The vote at Tuesday night's meeting goes against an incentive package offered by the previous council several years ago to keep the company in Monroe.

Gardner Denver Thomas employs more than 300 people in Monroe.

The council feels the city should not have to pay $650,000 to a private company for renovations.

Mayor Jamie Mayo says he's disappointed with the decision because he feels the city is going back on its word.
