FARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Sexual abuse charges keep piling up against a Union Parish man who was first arrested in November. His seven victims were boys and girls under the age of 10, Sheriff Dusty Gates said.

The latest charges against Richard E. Wyatt Jr., 22, of Farmerville, include six counts of aggravated rape; five counts indecent behavior with juveniles; two counts second-degree cruelty to juveniles; molestation of a juvenile; false imprisonment while armed with a dangerous weapon; false imprisonment; aggravated assault and oral sexual battery.

His total bond on these latest charges was set at $422,500.

When Wyatt was first arrested in November he was booked on three counts of molestation of a juvenile and one count of oral sexual battery. He has been in the Union Parish Detention Center since his original arrest.

"These new charges are the result of an ongoing investigation by detectives who have followed up on leads reported to the sheriff's office after his first arrest hit the media," Gates said. At this time, the sheriff said he did not expect any further charges.

Gates said Wyatt resided in a mobile home park south of Farmerville where all the victims lived. In some cases, parents had left their children with Wyatt for him to baby sit. Others often went to his residence to play electronic games or just to watch television, investigators reported.
