LSU-A to create lab school

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Cenla Christian Academy, a private school in Pineville, is moving its high school students to the campus of Louisiana State University of Alexandria beginning in the 2014-15 school year as part of a joint endeavor called University High of Cenla.

The new high school will operate as a lab school for LSUA. Cenla Christian, which educates sixth- through 12th-graders, currently has about 75 high school students at its school at Trinity Baptist Church. Middle school students will remain in Pineville.

Heather Poole, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment services, says the initiative began with a goal to increase dual enrollment and boost recruitment at LSUA.

She said that makes the difference for many college freshmen.
