US Army Sergeant found with 23 pounds marijuana

PORT ALLEN, La. (KNOE 8 News) - An active duty soldier has been arrested for possession of marijuana and intent to distribute.

Around 3 am Sunday, a State Trooper stopped a car on I-10 west of Louisiana Highway 415 in West Baton Rouge Parish for a traffic violation. The driver was an active duty US Army Sergeant wearing his military fatigues.

"After speaking with the driver, Sgt. Horace Brown, 30, of Cantonment, Florida, Troopers became suspicious and asked for permission to search the vehicle. Upon obtaining consent, Troopers discovered approximately 23 pounds of marijuana hidden in a duffle bag. Sgt. Brown stated that he was traveling from Fort Polk to Fort Bragg, NC."

Sgt. Brown was arrested and charged with improper lane usage, and possession with intent to distribute. He was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish jail.
