Twin City Mardi Gras wrap up

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- 7 children were lost or separated from their families at the 2014 Krewe of Janus Parade, fortunately each found a police officer that helped reunite them.

With crowds of over 1-hundred-thousand, there's a major concern for safety, however Krewe members insist that their parade is safe and continues to be a family environment.

"The children disappearing briefly is really not indicative of the type of parade that we have. We are a family oriented parade and very safe. We really strive for that," Krewe of Janus member Stephen Courtau said.

Police advise parents when attending events with large crowds it's a good idea to dress your children in distinctive clothing, so in the event that they are lost officers will have an idea of what to look for.
