2 New Orleans drug detectives plead guilty

NEW ORLEANS (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Two New Orleans Police Department drug detectives have pleaded guilty to stealing from a fund to pay informants and to double-dipping.

A news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office says 39-year-old Rafael Dobard and 33-year-old Quincy Jones each pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of conspiracy - one to commit wire fraud and one to steal from programs getting federal money.

They acknowledged that the department paid Dobard about $6,300 and Jones about $6,800 for hours when they worked off-duty guard jobs.

They also agreed that Dobard took $12,200 from the informant fund over 14 months as payments to a registered informant, but most was used to pay an informant who was not eligible for payments. Dobard got $1,300, Jones $1,000, and two unidentified officers $300 and $100.
