MARION, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Marion resident Gary D. Mount has been booked into the Union Parish Detention Center on five charges resulting from a domestic abuse complaint.

Mount, 59, of 436 King Johnston Rd., was booked for domestic abuse battery, battery of a police officer, resisting an officer, illegal use of a weapon and obstruction of justice. His bond had not been set Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff Dusty Gates said Mount was arrested Wednesday evening after his wife called in a complaint that he had struck her in the face with an open hand and then pushed her down.

Deputies met with the wife at another residence and she reported that Mount also had fired several shots from his AK-47 in the direction of some houses.

Gates said while deputies were driving to Mount's residence they saw a man spread-eagled in the middle of the road and he refused to identify himself. The wife later identified him.

When asked about the weapon, Mount would not tell deputies where it was located, but they did eventually find it behind a dresser inside the house.

The sheriff said Mount was uncooperative and fought with deputies, kicking one in the left thigh.
