MERIDIAN, Miss. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Lauderdale County investigators say skeletal remains have been identified as a woman who had been missing since last July.

Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says DNA testing showed the remains were those of Cynthia LeFlore. The woman was last contacted her family on July 18, 2013.

Calhoun says an autopsy will determine the cause of death.

LeFlore's body was found last Friday off Old Highway 19 South in a wooded area where workers were planting pine tree samplings.

Investigators found bones scattered over a large area. Some articles of clothing were found in the area as well.
