LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Crews are working to cut a path through rugged forestland to recover the body of an Arkansas Forestry Commission pilot who was found dead with his aircraft after being missing since Jan. 31.

Pilot Jake Harrell was found dead Tuesday after searchers spotted wreckage of the airplane he was in when he was on a routine wildfire patrol flight. Harrell didn't check in as scheduled during the flight and had not been heard from since.

The Forestry Commission says crews are using chain saws and bulldozers to create a three-mile road through forested steep hills in Montgomery County between a developed road and the crash site. An honor guard will escort Harrell's body home to North Little Rock.

Two federal agencies are investigating the crash.
