Cold weather shelter opening again

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Mayor Jamie Mayo is pleased to announce that effective 5:00 PM, Marbles Community Center, located at 2950 Renwick Street, will be open as a COLD WEATHER SHELTER. At this time plans are to have Marbles Community Center open as a cold weather shelter Thursday and Friday, February 7, 2014.

We are also pleased to announce the following support at the temporary shelter that will be open at Marbles Community Center: The Northeast Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross is providing cots and blankets. Security will be provided by the Monroe Police Department.

Mayor Jamie Mayo comments, "Once again, we want to do all that we can to provide a warm and safe place for the homeless. We are very thankful for the outstanding support of our community partners and others throughout our city, parish and region who are doing their part to help those in need during these extremely cold days and nights."
