LAFAYETTE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Sheriff's deputies say an Arnaudville man was shot in the back and killed in a Lafayette Parish parking lot during a carjacking involving juveniles.

Capt. Kip Judice said in a news release received by The Advocate 49-year-old Michael Patin was shot at the Jockey Lot, a flea market parking lot, just after 11 p.m. Sunday.

Judice says Patin, who was an employee of the Jockey Lot, was pronounced dead at a Lafayette hospital shortly after he arrived.

He says deputies have several suspects in custody but because of the ages of those involved, no additional information can be released.
