JACKSON, Miss. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - A woman has testified that her friend hoped to become a hip hop model when she sought the illicit buttocks injections that prosecutors say killed her in 2012.

The testimony came Thursday in Jackson, Miss., in the depraved-heart murder trial of Natasha Stewart of suburban Memphis, Tenn.

Stewart, an adult entertainer also known as Pebbelz Da Model, has pleaded not guilty in the death of Karima Gordon of Atlanta.

Prosecutors say Gordon paid Stewart $200 for a referral to the person who administered silicone injections to her buttocks in Jackson in 2012. She died days later.

Defense attorney Kevin Camp told jurors Wednesday during opening statements that Stewart had gotten the injections herself more than 10 times and didn't know they could cause serious harm.
