BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - LSU police have arrested a 21-year-old biology student accused of collecting more than $9,000 from the school's chemistry department for work she never completed.

Gabrielle Perry was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Wednesday on counts of public payroll fraud.

Perry has since been released after posting $3,000 bail.

LSU police say the fraud scheme began in July 2012 with Perry forging her supervisor's signature on numerous time sheets, then submitting them without supervisor approval.

It was unclear whether Perry has an attorney.
