MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - It could be the end of 2014 before Monroe once again has an Olive Garden, but employees of the burned out restaurant are thanking their parent company.

The restaurant was destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning. The cause appears to be electrical but is still under investigation. Wednesday, Olive Garden parent company, Darden, announced the restaurant would be rebuilt before the end of the year and that as many displaced employees as possible would be offered employment in their other chain restaurants. In Monroe those other restaurants are Longhorn Steakhouse and Red Lobster.

Thursday afternoon KNOE 8 News received the following statement from Olive Garden employees expressing appreciation to their corporate:

"The Employees of Olive Garden"

"We the employees of Olive Garden have been notified that we will be receiving monetary help for the next two weeks until we can secure a place of employment. This is a beautiful thing that Darden has blessed us with and we are proud to be part of their company. We still ask for places of employment to open their arms to us but we are very glad to know that Darden has helped us on our way during our time apart until the new Olive Garden is built. We thank you all so much for your prayers and we hope the future is bright for us. Thanks so much for your time."
