LIVINGSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - A Walker teen indicted in the shooting death of his mother pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.

District Attorney Scott Perrilloux said that a Livingston Parish grand jury on Tuesday indicted the 17-year-old in the death of 34-year-old Tamila Wooley.

The teen made his not guilty plea Wednesday.

Walker police believe the 17-year-old shot Wooley at their home - a town home in a gated community off Walker South Road - between late Dec. 29 and early Dec. 30 and left his mother's body there for at least two days. Officers found Wooley's body about noon Jan. 1.

Police believe the teen used a sawed-off shotgun to shoot his mother, but authorities are unsure how the teenager obtained the illegally modified weapon.
