Tallulah building gets a new look

TALLULAH, La. (KNOE 8 News)- The pictures on the walls are a reminder of what was and as you walk in you see what is now.

The bloom's arcade was once a destination location but not too long ago it was an eye soar in the middle of Tallulah.

Louisiana attorney general buddy Caldwell has a personal connection with the building because his great uncle built it right before the great depression.

"It's the first indoor mall of it's kind in the united states that I am told. And we called him uncle Mert he was my mothers uncle he built this arcade building. To our rear here was a drug store that I worked in from the time I was in the fourth grade," Caldwell said.

From the original store fronts to the flooring the building still has much of its historic charm, that's because the developers made it a point to make use of what remained.

The apartments are one and two bedrooms and range between 500 and 600 dollars per month but you do have to fall in a certain tax bracket to call the old arcade home
