FARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Union Parish deputies responding to a complaint about a suspicious vehicle arrested a couple on drug-related charges.

Brandy M. Hudgins, 31, and Michael L. Elmore, 47, both of 419 Lenwil St., West Monroe, were booked into the parish detention center. Hudgins was booked for simple possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $12,250.

Elmore was booked for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $11,000.

Deputies located the suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of Louisiana Hwy. 15 and Liberty Church Road and reported the two occupants as being nervous when approached.

Sheriff Dusty Gates said Elmore signed a consent to search the pickup. Elmore reportedly told deputies there was some marijuana in the toolbox and that Hudgins admitted it belonged to her.

Elmore also told deputies that there were some syringes that had been used to inject meth, Gates said. Twelve capped insulin needles, a silver spoon with a cotton-like substance on it were found. A field test on the cotton-like substance tested positive for meth.

The couple was arrested Wednesday.
