Town of Lake Providence under mandatory boil water advisory

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- The Town of Lake Providence since Friday evening has been without water.

Mayor Robert Amacker told us water will be restored to residents and businesses as soon as possible. The Lake Providence Public Works Department have attempted to fix the major leak twice this weekend, and is hoping it is sealed tightly so that water can be turned back on in the neighborhood.

The Office of Homeland Security in West Monroe assisted by bringing a water trailer for residents to get water that they needed.

The leak has caused many homes to experience low water pressure, while others have no water at all. The Public Works Department has established a water distribution tank at the Lake Providence Community Center for those in need of fresh water.

The town continues to be under a mandatory boil water advisory until further notice.
