BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Jindal administration says New York consultants will have to identify at least $500 million in savings for the state before getting their final payment on a $4.2 million contract.

Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols says that the firm of Alvarez & Marsal has agreed to add that provision to their contract.

The chairman of the House and Governmental Affairs Committee says that's a good change. But Republican state Rep. Tim Burns suggests another change - requiring all of the consultants' suggestions to be achievable.

He says, for example, that consolidating all schools could save lots of money, but might not be possible. He says any changes requiring constitutional adjustments would be difficult.

Burns was among lawmakers criticizing the contract last week.
