Veterans have a tough time finding work

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- Michael Kasey of West Monroe returned home from active duty in the Army September 20, 2013 and since then his life has been.

"progressively worse and worse," Kasey said.

Kasey learned how to survive in Afghanistan, while serving on multiple freedom missions. Once done serving in the Army he did not think as a civilian he would be learning how to survive all over.

Kasey just like many other vets can't find work and refuses to depend on the government for income.

Josiah Hayes recently retired from the Air Force and has been looking for a job since September. He received his last active duty paycheck on January 1. He says he can still work and grantees the skills that he was taught in the air force can be used in any work place.

"I've learned a lot of things in my last 20 years in the service. The biggest is communication written and verbal communication. You know it's the commitment level," Hayes said.
