MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)-Drivers beware, Ouachita Parish Sheriff Jay Russell has told his deputies to be on the lookout for aggressive drivers.

"People tend to become angry and let their emotions control their driving" says Captain Dale Chelette.

Road rage is a danger that can be found on almost every road way.

This is why the sheriffs office has their deputies on the look out for aggressive drivers during this time of year.

"We will see mostly after the holidays this time of the year January its back to the normal all the kids are going back to school people are going back to work people are having to pay off all of their bills from the holidays, so this time of the year we will start to see the aggressive driving and the road rage" says Chelette.

Drivers who are speeding, running lights, switching lanes quickly, and tailgating are seen as aggressive driving and can all be ticketed.

"There are people out their that become angry real quick they will turn a simple traffic violation into some type of assault or a battery" says Chelette.

Chelette says if you are confronted by an aggressive driver never leave your car, don't challenge the driver and avoid eye contact.
