Councilman hopes to bring food trucks to Monroe

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - So many of us simply don't have time to drive to a restaurant for lunch and sit down to wait on our order, but what if the restaurant was brought to you?

It's not quite delivery, but a food truck, or mobile food vendor.

Monroe City Councilman Ray Armstrong is working on an ordinance that would expand options for mobile vendors in the city. Armstrong says this would be an amendment to the city code, allowing for more opportunities for people with restaurants on wheels.

He says he's spoken with businesses wishing to expand to food trucks including Sage, Avocado's, Copeland's, as well as individual looking to start a business.

Armstrong says like in larger cities across the country, food trucks and trailers provide a convenient, new take on a restaurant.

He is unsure when the ordinance will be presented to the city council.
