Harley Davidson enthusiasts donate blood

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - LifeShare blood drive draws in leather-clad donors at Bleu Bayou Harley Davidson.

LifeShare reports critical levels in its blood supply after the holidays. Recruiter Ashley White says supplies run low this time of year because some people are out of town and forget to donate as much during the holidays.

Today, the Bleu Bayou Harley Davidson boys stepped up to donate. Two donor buses saw about 50 people Saturday.

Chuck Adams says the "bikers" at today's event are trying to break the stereotype of a mean or insensitive motorcyclist. He says they are very involved in their communities and want to give back.

Adams says "Giving is receiving," especially when the blood they're donating stays local, and could be used to save a brother, friend, or even his own life.
