Previous story (1/10/2014):

WATERPROOF, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Virtually the entire town of Waterproof is without water.  Most, if not all, of the 600 water customers have gone without water for almost two days, town leaders tell KNOE 8 News.

The freezing temperatures earlier in the week caused a problem with the water supply.  People continued using the water at a normal rate, and water ran out.

Leaders tell us that service is expected to be restored by 6 A.M. Saturday.

When the water does come back on, people are urged to slowly turn on their outside faucets to allow air that has built up to "bleed out."  If not, the pressure could cause pipes to burst inside homes.

Once the water is back on, a boil advisory will be in effect until further notice.  Everyone will be reminded to boil their water for one full minute before using it.
