NEW ORLEANS (KNOE 8 News/AP) - A homeless woman whose body was found inside a tent under an overpass in New Orleans has died as a result of the hard freeze that swept through the state this week.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office says the 58-year-old woman, found Wednesday, is the second homeless person to die of hypothermia as temperatures dipped to the low 20s. A homeless man was found dead Tuesday in the city's Central Business District.

And in Opelousas, police said cold is the likely reason that a homeless woman died after refusing a ride to a shelter. Sgt. Jody White says 51-year-old Frances Cunha's body was found Monday.

Authorities are investigating whether another woman found dead in her car Monday died as a result of the weather.
