JENNINGS, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - The Jefferson Davis Parish Police Jury has tabled plans for a new fire station in Lacassine until more information could be obtained.

Police Juror Leonard Dupuis, who represents the Lacassine area, asked the Police Jury to postpone the agenda item Wednesday until more information, including the price of the land to be purchased, could be obtained.

Fire District 3 secretary Renee Hicks says the fire district asked that the item be placed on the agenda. She says the fire board has already approved the purchase.

The new station is needed to replace the current fire station, which is being demolished. The new station, which will have four bays and an office, will serve Lacassine and the surrounding area.
