Man arrested after Hwy 165 crash in south Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Monroe man is in jail Wednesday night, accused of a wild ride that police say ended with a rollover crash on U.S. Highway 165 and an attempted theft at a nearby convenience store.

Monroe Police say Stanquan Young, 36, drove off Frontage Road, onto a median, and then the highway, where he clipped another SUV, before his own vehicle rolled over on its side.  Neither Young nor anyone else was hurt.

Investigators think Young was under the influence of drugs.

After the crash, he's accused of running to a nearby store on Martin Luther King Drive and trying to steal items.  That's where he was arrested.

Young faces charges of D.W.I., attempted theft, and reckless endangerment.
