BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal is heading overseas this weekend, on a business development trip that will take him to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Jindal announced the plans Wednesday at the Baton Rouge Press Club, say he wants to cultivate more foreign investment and trade between Louisiana and Asian markets.

Jindal says he and Economic Development Secretary Stephen Moret will meet with representatives of 10 companies while in Asia, along with senior government officials and others to discuss expanding business ties between Louisiana and the countries.

They'll leave Saturday for the weeklong trip.

On the list for meetings are corporate executives in the energy, chemical and manufacturing industries. Jindal says that includes companies already doing business in Louisiana and companies that the state is actively recruiting for projects in the state.
