HAHNVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a Luling man accused of driving drunk in a collision that killed St. Charles Parish deputy sheriff Jeff Watson. But the grand jury that indicted the defendant, Dallas Veillon, decided not to charge him with causing Watson's death.

Authorities said toxicology reports indicate that Veillon's blood alcohol level was 0.10 at the time of the Aug. 4 wreck. The legal limit in Louisiana is 0.08.

The grand jury charged Veillon with first offense DWI. Watson's widow said its failure to charge Veillon with a felony such as vehicular homicide is an "injustice."

State police investigated the wreck and indicated that Watson's speed might have been a factor. He was killed while responding to a fellow deputy's call for backup.
