Reckless driving complaint lead to string of arrests

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- "Narcotics effect us all we have the street crimes team which deals with the street level narcotics which come all the way to us at investigations where its associated with burglaries I mean stolen property is currency" says Pleasant.

Currency that lead the O.P.S.O S.C.A.T. team to 6 arrests in one day.

Now Major Jason Pleasant with the Ouachita Parish Sheriffs Investigations Office dealing with different types of crime everyday and says the littlest things can open the door to a large investigation.

"A simply reckless operation complaint which lead to patrol and scat locating the vehicle that what it stem from just something as simple as that" says Pleasant.

And the careless driving charge against these two men unleashed an investigation that is just picking up momentum.

These two arrests led to four others and the home of 46-year-old Renee Lovett. S.C.A.T. team members also found 49 year old John bigelow there with stolen property,4 ounces of meth, drugs, firearms, and cash totaling 14,000 dollars.

Evidence found at that home led deputies to another home where they found more stolen property along with drugs and arrested 36-year-old Jeremy Wells and 35-year-old Kayla Lara.

And Pleasant says shows how crucial every division is in the sheriffs office.

"Its the perfect scenario of all of our divisions working hand in hand to benefit the public" says Pleasant.
