MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Plumbers around Louisiana brace for a torrent of calls about frozen pipes once the weather warms and pipes thaw out.

Jason Martin, owner and president of All Plumbing Heating & Cooling Inc., said he fielded a few calls Monday from Monroe residents. Monroe was reportedly the only Louisiana city to set a January 6th record. Its low of 20 was one degree below that for Jan. 6, 1959. Temperatures were expected to rise Tuesday into the upper 30s and low 40s.

In the New Orleans area, temperatures fell below freezing overnight and weren't expected to rise above 32 until late Tuesday.

Classes are canceled in Franklin and Tensas Parishes and in Loranger, after a boiler failure at its three schools Monday. All remaining Tangipahoa Parish public schools will be open.
