Residents in Richwood go without gas

Posted: Updated:

RICHWOOD, La. (KNOE 8 News)- For some Richwood residents finding warmth inside from the cold outside was chilling.

A gas regulator malfunctioned leaving more than 200 residents without gas to cook and heat their homes.

With the temperatures forecasted to drop drastically tonight, Mayor Alvin Jackson is hoping everyone stays safe and finds ways to keep warm.

The mayor hopes Atmos Energy will have customers back on line, so that no one goes without through the night.

Just in case service is not restored residents are urged to seek shelter at the Salvation Army in Monroe and at the West Monroe Community Center.

However Atmos officials at say gas should be reconnected to all the homes affected before seeking shelter becomes necessary.
