UPDATE:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Police are currently investigating a found body in the 2700 Block of Desiard St. at approximately 1:00 PM Monday.

The body of a white male subject was found behind a business located at the above location. A neighbor was walking in the area when his dog found the body.

The body appeared to have been at the location for several weeks and was in a somewhat decomposed state.

Detectives believe the cooler temperatures have slowed the decomposition process and may be a factor as to the why the body was not located earlier.

No identification of the person has verified at this time and detectives are working towards that end.

Monroe Police are unable to verify at this time if the body is that of the subject reported missing from Winn Parish several weeks ago. The investigation is ongoing.
