MOREHOUSE PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an elderly man. His body was found along a rural road.

Sheriff Mike Tubbs says the body of 88-year-old Roosevelt Lepold was found this morning along Bud Road just east of Mer Rouge. A driver traveling the road spotted the body at 11070 Bud Road and called the sheriff's office.

Sheriff Tubbs says Lepold was found just a few hundred feet from his home. Tubbs says there are no signs of foul play to the body and Lepold's wallet was found on his body. A search of Lepold's home also found no traces of foul play.

The sheriff says the elderly man lived alone and his family lived out of the area. Tubbs believes the man may have gone for a walk late Thursday night or Friday morning and became disoriented, suffered from a medical condition, or may have died from being out in the cold weather. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.

Tubbs says a crime scene unit processed the scene and investigated. But, he expects that no foul play is involved in the death.
