WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - The West Monroe High School marching band left Friday for London, where it will march in the city's New Year's Day parade.

Band director Robert Freeman says that the band previously performed at high-profile domestic events - including President George W. Bush's inauguration in 2005 - but this will be its first trip overseas.

The trip includes 75 students and 10 chaperones.

In addition to the parade, the band will perform in concert at London's Cadogan Hall on Dec. 30.

The hall is the home venue of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
