Stocking the shelves with fireworks

Posted: Updated:

OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News)-While most stores are clearing their shelves, with less than a week until New Years Boomers Fireworks Super Store is stocking shelves for one of the busiest times of the year.

Its all hands on deck as Boomers owner Farra Bracken gets prepared for her busiest time of the year.

"We have been stocking our shelves and other stands in preparation for our big new years eve sale" say Bracken.

While the customers are already picking up their fireworks of choice, the Monroe Police Department says if you are thinking about using them in the city of Monroe, think again.

"It is illegal to possess use or sell fireworks so it is kind of funny for us to give a safety tip on something that is illegal so that is the first thing we want the public to know its not ok to have these things inside the city limits of Monroe" says Sargent Mark Johnson.

Now if you are caught police will issue a ticket and a judge will decide your fine.

But if you are planning to do fire works after the New Years you only have until midnight January first to stock up.

"Come out here and get your product while you can because they wont be available again until June 25th" says Bracken.

So whether you are lighting something as simple as a sparkler or something as big as the Extreme Pyro remember to think before you light.
