High speed chase in Arkansas ends in Bastrop

BASTROP, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Ashley County deputies were led on a high speed pursuit that crossed the state line into Morehouse Parish.

Morehouse Sheriff Mike Tubbs tells KNOE that Ashley County officers were investigation a crime involving Christopher Staley, 38, of Wilmar, Arkansas, when he fled.

Staley led officers down Highway 425 down to Morehouse Parish where deputies were waiting to assist. Staley drove through stop lights, went over 100 miles per hour, and struck a deputies car during the chase.

He was stopped by deputies in Bastrop after they used spike strips to blow out two of his tires. No injuries were reported.

Staley is charge with the following: two counts aggravated criminal damage, three counts aggravated obstruction of the highway, aggravated flight, two counts of attempted battery of an officer, driving with a suspended license, and a DWI.

He is in the Morehouse Parish Jail, and bond will be set Monday.
