Storms cause power outages, damage in Arklamiss

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A large band of storms brought power outages to thousands in the Arklamiss.

In Monroe, the Books A Million location suffered the most significant damage as the facade was ripped off.  Shoppers there say that the power flickered off and then the doors to the store shot wide open.  There were no major injuries, however few suffered scratches.

The studios of KNOE 8 News even suffered damage.  The iconic red KNOE letters were ripped off the roof of the building.

In Ruston, Mayor Dan Hollingsworth said that major feeder lines in the town were blown down. Entergy responded and most of the power has been restored.

In West Monroe, trees are down on Arkansas Road and Trenton Street causing sections of the roads to be closed.

No deaths, only minor injuries have been reported.

Other Entergy crews are working to restore the power in other areas.
