Block party for the Union Parish Farmers

FARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - This year has truly been an emotional roller coaster for the community of Farmerville, but Thursday night they were celebrated by the community.

A parade and block party was held for the Union Parish High School Farmers after their 33-27 win over Livonia in the 3A State Championship.

With a hotel on 33rd Street, the Farmers scored 33 points, all in memory of #33 Jaleel Gipson.

"It brought us together even better," says Desmond Turner, "because it's just week after week we got better and better to get to this point, and it paid off we're state champions."

"We picked everybody up, and say hey, adversity, we've got to face it and we did, and we over came it," D'angelo Gatson.

They say they won for their community and their teammate.

"I was confident in my whole team long as we knew we were fighting for him we knew we'd bring it home," says Gatson.

A team that's been through so much this year, and certainly deserves a little time to celebrate.
