NATCHEZ, Miss. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - The Adams County Board of Supervisors is considering hiring an outside agency to help collect millions of dollars in overdue fines.

A proposal to hire a firm called Mississippi Court Collections was made Monday by Board Attorney Scott Slover.

If hired, the agency would collect overdue sanitation fees, justice court fines and personal property taxes.

Slover said after Monday's meeting that the county estimates it is owed approximately $1.5 million in justice court fines and approximately $2 million in overdue sanitation fees.

The board will consider whether to have Slover contract with the firm at its next meeting.
