MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - With criminals eyeing cars in parking lots, remember to keep your things safe, and your car locked.

The easiest tips to remember: keep your car locked and your valuables hidden. Sometimes, even if the doors are locked, brave criminals decide to double-check for you.

In surveillance video from the Pecanland Mall, you can see 35-year-old Artago Howard wandering through the parking lot. Cameras caught him looking inside cars and even pulling on a few door handles. Fortunately, security caught Howard and he's charged with attempted vehicle burglary, but Howard isn't the only parking lot predator.

"People are looking for opportunities and while we do what we can to help shoppers out, shoppers can help themselves out to by just being conscious of what's going on in their surroundings," says Stephanie Ryan, mall representative.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A man is arrested after being caught trying to break into cars at the mall.

Artago Damond Howard was caught by surveillance cameras looking into cars in the Pecanland Mall parking lot. After seeing what's inside, police say he would pull on the car handle trying to get in.

Howard was arrested for attempted vehicle burglary, and after a scuffle with police, he's also charge with resisting an officer.Bond has been set at $6500.
